Workshop 5

From this spectrogram, we can derive several points of information. The spectrum is fairly noisy, with a gradual attack starting with mostly low partials (with a few, higher noisy frequencies), with the higher partials coming in slowly.

Using a melodic spectrogram analysis mode, we can see that there are 2 prominent partials: one at approximately D4, and the higher at F#6. The frequency of these strong partials does waver at points. Also important to note are the overtones, present in dark blue. F#2 and D6 exists (octaves), in addition to G2, 3 and 4. A5 is also present. The combination of A, G and F# gives a slight dissonance to the sound.

Finally, the waveform gives us a concise and easy to read view of the dynamic content. Indeed, I can confirm that there is a relatively slow attack, a short amplitude peak, and a long delay. Looking at the spectrogram again, we can also observe some ‘beating’ occurring in the tail of the sound.
